Faculty Services: Services

Services

Research Assistance - For research assistance, e-mail lawlib@uidaho.edu with a brief description of your needs.

  • Easy questions will receive a prompt (one-ish business day) reply
  • For more complicated matters, the reference librarians will coordinate & develop a plan & timeline
  • What kind of research assistance do we offer? At risk of sounding like Justice Stewart, it's hard to define what we can & can't do for faculty, but we'll tell you when asked to do it. We will suggest resources, help create a research plan, train your RA, track down resources you cannot find, write Terms & Connectors searches, liaise with UI librarians for interdisciplinary research, etc. Unfortunately, it's rare we will have enough librarian availability to do extensive research for you, but we encourage you to ask anyway because we will find some way to support your research to the best of our ability.

In-Class Workshops - Reference librarians are also available to provide in-class research instruction for your students; e-mail lawlib@uidaho.edu

Research Assistant (RA) Training - We also provide customized RA training upon request; e-mail lawlib@uidaho.edu

One of the things we made between online reference transactions during the stay-at-home order

Digital Current Awareness - Electronic databases support current awareness through a variety of alerts. A researcher can:

  • Run searches on a regular basis
  • Set up:
    • Periodical alerts: Be notified when a periodical publishes a new issue & receive its Table of Contents
    • Author alerts: Be notified when a specific author publishes a new article
    • Topic alerts: Be notified of news, cases, or legislation specific to a legal topic

Contact Anna Blaine (208-885-2161) for assistance in digital current awareness.

If you are in Moscow & would like to be routed a particular periodical in print, contact Stacey Anderson (208-885-6523). (Unfortunately, print routing is not available in Boise.)
